The Apprentice's Sir Alan Sugar has pledged £10,000 to his employee Simon Ambrose to finish the London Marathon.

Last year's BBC1 series winner, 27, who will compete for Breast Cancer Campaign tomorrow because a family member had the disease, said: "I vow to cross the line and thank Sir Alan for his generosity." But two other celebs at least are treating the 26.2 miles as just a training spin.

Ex-Olympic oarsman James Cracknell and TV Castaway Ben Fogle, who rowed the Atlantic together two years ago, will build up stamina for a 400-mile race to the South Pole. Gordon Ramsay and Michel Roux are among other celebs in the race.

KATE LAWLER: MARATHON WAS PANTS

SEXY Big Brother star Kate Lawler said today was the first and last time she would run a marathon.

The dishy blonde, who ran the London Marathon today wearing skimpy black Ann Summers knickers, said she wouldn't rush to do it again.

Finishing the race in a time of 4 hours 54 minutes she said: "Never will I put my body through that again."

Kate, 27, said she was attracting lots of attention from other runners as she ran by in her sexy number.

She said: "People were saying I was holding them up because they didn’t want to run past. Others said ’thanks for keeping us going’.”

Other celebrity runners taking part were chef Gordon Ramsay who was competing in his ninth marathon and actress Amanda Holden.

Jane's family in marathon double

The widower and daughter of endurance athlete and fundraiser Jane Tomlinson have completed the London Marathon.

Mrs Tomlinson, of Rothwell, Leeds, died in September after a seven-year battle with cancer during which she raised millions of pounds for charity.

Her 46-year-old husband Mike and their daughter Rebecca, 20, ran Sunday's event in aid of Jane's Appeal, the charity which she set up.

Rebecca finished in 3 hours 45 minutes and her father in 4 hours 28 minutes.

The pair reckon they have raised about £20,000 towards the appeal.

Foot soldiers at the marathon

AN ARMY of runners joined the London Marathon yesterday to raise £100,000 for Help for Heroes, the Forces charity backed by The Sun.

More than 100 soldiers, sailors, airmen and civilians slogged their footsore way round the 26-mile course to get cash for wounded troops.
