We've had this discussion many time Monk. He is absolutely class and Liverpool would be frigged without him. He and Lampard are the two best midfielders in world football. He did go missing in the Champions League final and was the worst player on the pitch in the first half but second half he stepped it up and still came back to have a major influence.

I'm just disappointed he chose the wrong option and stayed at Liverpool.

Yeah, he went AWOL alright, didn't see him play in every position on the park that night except goalie and where was he when the trophy needed to be picked up?

remember Euro 2004? Where was Gerard throughout that? i would have been more use to England than Gerard was during that competition. Just a shame that the Scouse ran media fail to point out these things.

He's clearly not a bad player, and he would most certainly get a place in the team that I support, but to suggest that he is one of the world's best players is laughable.

Finishing one place behind Everton says more about Gerard and his side than winning the Champs Lge could ever do.

Mind you, if Alan Stubbs wore red, he'd probably be heralded as one of the best central defenders in the world.

(and that isn't my attempt to claim Stubbs or Everton are anything other than poor)

I think that Gerrard will have a bad season next season. Dip in form will make england spuard but will be bad next season
