FORMER Australia, Manchester United and Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Bosnich is considering a comeback with English lower league side Walsall.

Bosnich, 32, has been out of football for two years since he was sacked by Chelsea and banned by the Football Association for nine months after failing a drug test and testing positive for cocaine.

League One team Walsall are managed by former Arsenal and England midfielder Paul Merson, who had a well-publicised addiction to cocaine, gambling and alcohol.

"Paul has spoken to my agent and said I can train with them," Bosnich told The Sun.

"It's something I'm thinking about because I'm ready to return to the game."

"Previously I did not want to play a game. But now I have got the hunger back. I have been clean for two months but I know you can always slip up.

"I have changed and need a focus to make sure I never slip up again.

"Football will give me that."

Bosnich made his name at Aston Villa before moving to Manchester United, where he ultimately fell foul of manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

He made only a handful of first-team appearances after his transfer to Chelsea.

"My life was ruled by drugs and I was a mess," Bosnich said in an interview last year.

"I was staying awake on coke for days on end. It was destroying me."

Certainly was! and he threw it all away on more than one occasion too. Chelsea was his second chance and look where they are now!
