Sunday March 13 2005 18:59 GMT :BBC Newcastle United are through to the FA Cup semi-finals after beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at St James' Park. The Magpies scrapped through against a strong Spurs side, thanks to a goal from Patrick Kluivert just five minutes into the match. Tottenham fought back, with Shay Given blocking attempts by Robbie Keane then Jermain Defoe, as well as saving from Frederic Kanoute and Timothee Atouba. It will be United's fourth FA Cup semi-final appearance in eight years. Elsewhere a late goal from Paul Dickov put Blackburn through and Leicester out of the competition. Dickov struck in the 83rd minute of the game, and it was enough to seal Rovers' victory. On Saturday Arsenal, confirmed their place in the semis after beating Bolton 1-0, as did Manchester United who beat Southampton 4-0. |
