England captain David Beckham has launched a footie academy to help eight to 15-year-olds improve their skills.
The 29-year-old Real Madrid midfielder revealed plans for his east London academy at the launch on Monday.
In its first year, more than 15,000 kids of all abilities are expected to attend the academy, staffed by 23 top coaches. It will open in the summer.
"I am lucky now to be in a position to put something back into the game," said Becks, who grew up in east London.
"I am putting a lot of my own money into the project and I see myself being associated with it for many years to come.
"It's a long-term commitment I will be involved with after the finish of my playing career."
Becks is also planning to open another academy in the US later in the year.
