Mon, Apr 4, 2005 Megastar Tennis star Tim Henman has announced he intends to give up the sport to pursue a career in acting. The British No1 is well-known to be a major film buff, and now plans to transfer his talents to the silver screen. For some time, the world No4 has been having private acting lessons with a well-known Hollywood movie star at his plush house in Barnes, west London, which he shares with his model wife Lucy and their children. And first stop on the path to tinseltown stardom could see Henman gunning for the coveted role of James Bond. Despite vying with established stars such as Clive Owen, Jude Law and Hugh Jackman for Pierce Brosnan's famous tux, studio insiders believe Tiger Tim has a terrific chance of pipping them to the post. "He's a natural," a source at Pinewood Studios told us, who's been keeping a close eye on Henman's progress. "He just oozes talent. There's a magnetism about him in front of the camera that you don't always sense on the tennis court. "I personally think he'll give bookies' favourite Clive Owen a run for his money." Henman's vast legion of fans, however, are distraught at the news. Zara Cruciform-Godbother, global chairman of official supporters' club Henmaniacs Anonymous, fumed: "It's the worst thing ever. I am stunned and so are my members. "To think of the money we've spent on travel and facepaint following him all over the world. I bet that b*tch put him up to it." |
