The BBC sports show Grandstand is to come to an end after 48 years.
The corporation has confirmed the programme will be phased out as part of a radical overhaul of its sports coverage.

Grandstand has been presented by the likes of Frank Bough, David Coleman, Des Lynam and Steve Rider.

BBC Director General Mark Thompson is expected to announce the changes when he gives details of a radical review of BBC output on Tuesday.

I can't say I'm bothered in the slightest. Whenever I do have to watch these sort of programmes, Jeff Stelling and the chaps over on Sky win everytime.

I now watch sky sports news in preference or else use the skysports/wanadoo match services online so can get up to the minute action on as many games as I like, but Grandstand's a bit of an institution.I grew up with it and it's linked to childhood memories of jumpers for goalposts, hot buttered toast and when Dr Who erally WAS scary! ::lol::
