Brazil Only Nation 'Up For The 2014 Cup'
Brazil will host the 2014 football World Cup, it has been announced.
The South American country, which is obsessed with the sport, was the only one bidding for the tournament.
The competition was due to be staged on the continent under Fifa's rotation rules.
Once the news was officially confirmed, delighted Brazilians let off fireworks, released balloons and draped giant yellow team shirts over landmarks.
Brazil has won the World Cup five times, more than any other nation.
It last hosted the competition in 1950.
Then the national team lost to Uruguay, a defeat that is still seen as a national disaster.
The tournament was last held in South American in 1978, when hosts Argentina were crowned champions.
Experts say Brazil's stadia will need to undergo a major revamp.
Of the 18 identified as possible tournament stadia, many do not even have basic television commentary facilities.
