If you are buying several books, than I'd go for Amazon.co.uk. Lots of their books are 30-40% off, and if you spend at least £19 (at the moment - sometimes it's £25) then delivery is free, which makes it really worthwhile. For a single book, Amazon is expensive because the delivery charge will probably be higher than the discount, especially on paperbacks.

For second-hand books I use ebay, for buying and selling. Never had any problems :D

Amazon is great... have a terrible Amazon habit! Worth it for buying lots of books/CDs as you get the free delivery... as Pizzicato says ()^

If you are after the cheapest Scotslass i would recommend a search on here. It will search for the item then display you with it's cheapest findings. It's not just books, it does a whole range of items as well! :D

There's a site called http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk
It has very cheap books, but not a huge range. I bought the Robbie biography for a friend that cost £7.99, although I did pay £3.25 p&p but it still worked out cheaper then anywhere else, and if you buy a few books then the postage isn't such a big deal.

You could try Barnes&Noble.com - I get their newsletter and they often have up to 80% off their stock.

I like the library but certain books I prefer to have the copy for myself, it's great to drag it out again in a few months or a years time to re-read it.

Small tip: You can actually google for a 10% off code for Amazon!
WHAT! I like to be thrifty, that's all!
