I hate when people do that, Martin never told me what happened but I know some things that happen, if that makes sense ? ::lol::

Yes, I see what you mean. From what I can tell there will be a few twists at the end of it - I'm on page 303 and that's already apparent!

Have you read We Need to Talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver.

was just reading back over this to get a title I wanted and saw this question ellie which I didn't answer sorry! I bought it a couple of weeks ago, it looks a very interesting read. I have just started The Red Tent today which you said was good.

The Red Tent is by Anita Diamant. It is a fictional story about the life of Dinah who was one of Jacob's daughters from the Book of Genesis in the bible. It gives a great insight into the role of women in this time in History. The tent referred to is the tent which women would use in those times during their period. It is a fantastic story of sisterhood, motherhood and betrayal. I loved it.

Finished it and really enjoyed it ellie. It was very different from what I have been reading more recently but I loved the change and the insight into what life was like for women in those times. Lots of Bible inacuracies though which confused me a bit because I know the story from the Bible and was thinking ''huh? well that didn't happen'', but once I got over that I loved the book.

Currently reading NME Magazine and FourFourTwo! The proper books I read are the odd autobiography or books on good music bands such as:

The Smiths - Songs that saved your life
Stone Roses
Morrissey

Etc

I'm not familiar with the Old Testament at all, so I didn't spot any inaccuracies but I can see that would be annoying. What were the main inaccuracies HC? I knew it was fiction but acccepted that all these people did exist and that thir family histories were loosely accurate.

there were lots of little inacuracies and some fairly big ones too but it doesnt claim to be a true story it is more using characters from the bible and lesser known ones. it was a bit of a mix really even within one small part of the story there would be correct and incorrect but I still thought it was a great red and such a nice change.

What was the biggest inaccuracy HC? I may go back and re-read it.

*thinks* I'm not entirely sure about the killings of the prince I would need to check that out but the motive would be different if that were the case. Obviously this book talks much about worship the god of this and that where as the bible would be Jacob following God and what HE says. Do you get me? it was mainly the motives for people going or doing what they did. Also the bit where Jacob is on the other side of the river and they wake up and he has broken limbs. It sort of happens but not quite like that!

Aaah but it is not now a widely accepted view that the Old Testament is fiction and shouldn't be taken literally. I don't know too much about it but seem to remember my daughter's teacher telling me something like this.

well personally speaking I believe it and accept that it is true though I also accept that the book makes no claims to be true so I enjoy both :D

That's an excellent book isn't it Moz. Fascinating insight in to the genesis of all the tracks and all the recording info and influence you could want to know.

And more biographical/psychological insights than many of the straight forward biographies of Morrissey and The Smiths.

I'm reading Bernard Cornwells "Stonehenge" which isn't exactly literature either :D
