
I must've read over a thousand books but 99% of them are just trashy pulp fiction, nothing intellectual other than a Gore Vidal once that wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be!) and a few melodramatic Victorian writers. I don't see why 'popular' books should be seen as less worthy than the 'classics!'

Imo, the purpose of a book is to entertain or educate the reader and make money for the writer... Simple!
Edit: I haven't actually read a thousand books this year!
