I'm reading a really kiddie book at the moment but my gran chose it for me at christmas so I thought i'd better read it!

My favourite book is 'Animal Farm' by george orwell and my fave poem 'Dulce et Decorum Est' by Wilfred Owen at the moment, I wonder why..... ;) ::lol::

I think it was you I was talking about Life of Pi with claire. Yes I agree it made my jaw drop several times but the ending was stunning.

Northern Lights now is it, Grim? Think you said that was next on your list. Haven't quite managed to start reading the second part yet, which probably proves I wasn't very impressed by part 1. Hope you like it, though.

I tried reading Northern Lights but really I thought it was dire. So much so I gave up just over halfway through, most unusual for me so it must have been bad.

I'm reading The Face by Dean Koontz now, that's more like it, something with a bit of oomph!

No it's not sad, it's the only book I've ever read that actually made my jaw drop at the end. It would be right up there in my top 3 favourite ever books.

Here is the link Second Hand Books most paperbacks on here are £3.75 with free delivery.
Don't be put off by the used description, everything I have bought from here has been in almost mint condition.

Thanks for this link - I've always used Amazon in the past - anyway I found something I was looking for at a fraction of the price! :)

My favourite book is a collection of short stories by Edgar Allen Poe. The man is amazing and so are his stories. He's dead now, has been for a long time but he is soooo talented!!

A book I would reccommend is Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon

I jusy finished read The Bell Jar and I'm going to be reading Jaws for the second time soon. I want to make all the people who see me reading it in Greece afraid to go in the water (although sharks are generally pretty harmless unless you're being a bit of a twonk, even great whites).

I've just finished reading 'Embers' by Sandor Marai - absolutely loved it!

short review from Amazon.com here....

" In Sándor Márai's Embers, two old men, once the best of friends, meet after a 41-year break in their relationship. They dine together, taking the same places at the table that they had assumed on the last meal they shared, then sit beside each other in front of a dying fire, one of them nearly silent, the other one, his host, slowly and deliberately tracing the course of their dead friendship. This sensitive, long-considered elaboration of one man's lifelong grievance is as gripping as any adventure story and explains why Márai's forgotten 1942 masterpiece is being compared with the work of Thomas Mann."
