that sounds good.

here's another one for you ellie - have you read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak?

I noticed it on Amazon the other day, it looks really good. It's about a little girl who steals books, and how she is taken in by a family after her own family is killed in the second world war. Continuing my theme of Germans/Jews in that era - I always seem to be drawn to it.

I have a signed copy of Thud! He made it look very sparkley and pretty too, because I said I thought my name was dull. Lovely lovey man!

Anyway, at the moment I'm reading "The Best of Roald Dahl", which I rescued from a charity shop (same day I rescued my The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon pop-up book). It's a paperback and the middle ripped today, have lovingly repaired it...

Roald Dahl = disturbed. I love it.

I'm reading Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult. My friend gave it to me for my birthday. So far I like it.

Just finished Tatty by Christine Dwyer Hickey, bought to me at Christmas by the lovely Bboop. I loved this book, it tells the story of a 10 year old growing up in Dublin, with her siblings and abusive and neglectful alcoholic parents. The book is told from the girl's perspective and is truly heart wrenching.

Now starting Until I Find you by John Irving.

At the moment I'm reading The Last King Of Scotland by Giles Foden, which my girlfriend bought for me as I enjoyed the film so much.
I can thoroughly recommend it to everyone.

Started Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris last night, and I'm completely hooked! It's perfect for teachers to read.

I've just started reading Gordon Ramsay's autobiography Humble Pie. It's a very easy read, but sad to find out about his very tough upbringing.

I'm probably addicted to reading Philip Yancey books now. Am on my third, and have bought another 4 for when that's finished. Guess I'm finding what he's got to say pretty interesting.

I was glad there was no photo of him on the books, as I had my own mental picture of this person, who was becoming quite familiar.

Merciful hour! I just 'Googled' him - and he's not at all like I imagined.

LOL, GG. I jusdt googled him too, and I wasn't ready for that image!! He writes amazing books, though, so I'll forgive the hairdo!!!

Gentlemen and Players proved brilliant to the end. Now reading a light bit of fluff called Brown Owl's guide to Life, by Kate Harrison. It's making me think of my own days in the Brownies.

I have just finished reading a book which has now made it into my top 5 favourites. It is called 'the longest memory' by Fred D'aguiar. It isn't that long a book but is so well written and moving. I have just ordered it from Amazon to read again and again as I am sure there is so much to be gained from readng it a few times. It is the story of the life of a black slave in the 1800's told through the eyes of various people around him and shows the ignorance of the white people as well as the differing opinions and treatment of the black slaves. A superb read.

Finished with already translated (from English to Finnish) books of George R.R. Martin (U.S.A) "The Song of The Steel and The Snow" and can't wait to read the end of the fantasy some day. This Fantasy-saga isn't for kids - it's written by an adult to an adult. ;)
