Further, to SJC's request, as to what other BBFANS contributors,
are currently reading or have recently finished,
here's my contribution.

"Bodyline Autopsy" by David Frith. (published by Aurum, £8.99)

"A full 70 years on, the 1932-33 Ashes series remains the most notorious in the history of Test Cricket between Australia and England.
In 1932 England, led by the haughty Douglas Jardine ,had the fastest bowler in the world: Harold Larwood. Australia boasted the most prolific batsman the game had ever seen: Don Bradman. He had to be stopped.

I've just read the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander MacCall Smith.

This is the first of 4 (so far) books about Precious Ramotswe, a very likeable modern-day Botswanan Miss Marple. The books are set in a Botswanan village, where Precious uses her intelligence, wit and charm to track down errant husbands and rebellious daughters, sort out conmen, and deal with a case of child abduction.

This is good bed-time reading, especially for people who like the more gentle, old-fashioned type of whodunnit and maybe those who have been to Africa and have an affection for it. And I really like the cover designs!

Because the books are quite popular, there's usually several available on ebay.

Err ..no ;)

I was give a book by FruitTwistMonkey.

It's called 'A Child called It' by Dave Pelzer.

It's the true story of a boy who's loving happy family is changed into a abusive hell created by his mother. Heartbreaking but inspirational.

...on a more serious, worthy, holyer-than-thou, note,
i do intend to surf Amazon and find a decent book on
Islam, and it's place in today's world.
..any ideas or help would be appreciated. ()^

....with the world in turmoil, i'd like to understand this religion, a little better than i do.

From my small knowledge of Islam I believe that it is one of the most tolerant of all religions. They teach about other religions aswell as their own. I believe Jesus is mentioned in the Koran.

That is why it is doubtful that religion is the motive for our present troubles IMO.

You might like to check out a couple of books by Karen Armstrong - The Battle for God: Fundamentalism in Judaism, Christianity and Islam,
and Holy War: The Crusades and their Impact on Today's World.

I haven't read these books myself, but have read a couple of her others.

..would disagree with you, there.
The Islamo Fascists want to wipe out Juadism, in the same way Hitler did, in the last century.
The difference being ,that appeasement seems to be the order of the day, this time :roll: , whereas, last time, the free world, decided to fight the evil.

I've read the second one of those Claire, but hadn't heard of the first.
