This one of the few 'Teach Yourself' books that really takes the time to explain things. Then you have tips and advice from proffessionals from TV and Film in each section.
The book starts with the camcorders telling what you need for what you want to do. Then explains all the different types and the features you need and what you don't so you know what to get and what to avoid.

Then you have the different softwares which the books starts off by explaining the different ones available and the ones that are worth exploring right through to proffessional level.

If you want to learn how to create great video then this is the best I've found so far. Each new concept is explained and talked through using examples.

Software covered are Windows Movie Maker (XP) ,Pinnacle Studio ,Adobe Premiere ,MyDVD ,DVDit!.

The author is an award-winning TV News reporter/anchor ,video producer ,writer focusing on PC technology, and music publisher marketing director amoung others. An Adobe certified Expert and Trainer on Premiere .
Also mentioned is Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 but I haven't got that far yet to see what detail if any he goes into with this proffessional piece of software.

I'm only about a 1/4 of the way through the book yet I'd recommend it. His advice of taking stills (photographs) is already showing through on recent pictures even without me conciously doing things different.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when the filming for the later projects start to see how much has sunk in.

OK I have all the tools ,some fantastic software ,and a great book if I can put them all together I should see some interesting results.
