Post subject:  Vintage Future Classics
This shows the 100 books selected to be the classics of the future. I think they asked a whole bunch of intelects to compile the list. I'm a book worm but have only read or own with the intention of reading about five or six of them. :-? Maybe I shold visit more intelectual bookshops. I've always been quite happy with the three for two table at Borders :angel:

2, 36, 53, 80 are the only ones I've read, quite embarassing really :oops:

I've read The Time Travellers Wife which is one of my favourite books and The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Nightime which is another favourite of mine. I have Atonement out from the library and Birdsong on order and I own a copy of Sophies Choice which I bought for the bargain price of 30p and have not yet read :D

5/100 is a bit crap really ::lol::

Its total class, its a massive satire on the hell of the capitalistic 80s :D

That probably is my favourite book.

When I say I have read it about 30 times it's not actually a joke (part of the reason being we got a period each week in higher English to do our personal study and I did it about this book. We got 6 months to prepare it before we did the essay and I was ready to do it in about a month so just read the book over and over again!) and have got something new out of it each time.

I gave my copy away and ended up buying another one because I liked it so much Jezi. It's brilliantly written and the author clearly has knowledge of Asperger.

I actually saw a short interview with Mark Haddon on the news once and he said that he had never really researched that much into it before writing it.

It just amazes me everytime I read it when I remember that Christopher isn't actually a real person!

I don't know, I remember trying to do something at the time of the interview. I'm pretty certain he said that he hadn't done that much research, he never said he didn't do any mind you. Wish I could remember the exact phrase.

He must have done a bit. Didn't he write it in the style of how an aspergers child would, minimal punctuation etc and all the stuff about the smiley faces must have been researched. It's a great book. I let my 9 year old daughter read it and she loved it too.

Maybe I shouldn't have phrased my first bit like that, I never said he didn't do ANY research - it just wasn't all done on research.
