Thanks, Madeline. If anyone is interested, there is a website with a couple of extracts from the book, plus related projects - including a play called Angels with Manky Faces to be staged next year:

The book itself - The Gangs of Manchester - is based on an academic research project, but has been described by someone from Radio 4 as written "in the style of an airport thriller". We are hoping that it will be made into a film along the lines of Gangs of New York, but rather than Daniel Day-Lewis in the lead role we are keeping our fingers crossed for the lad who plays Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street.

Looks like an interesting read. It would be great to see the Ashley Peacock actor doing something a bit more gritty but what they heck would they do with that voice. :-? :oops:
