Anyway just want to comment on this. My church is very against women preaching from the pulpit I can see there point and there was 12 MEN diciples and women can be used in service in so many ways that men wouldn't do as good a job as a woman! I think women are probably better at pastoral care! My vicar is on the committee for Reform! It is a very bible based church and very sound and strong in teaching which is cool!

Have I shocked you lot now not sticking up for women on this issue.

It is a tricky one and like to see what everyone else thinks?

I don't think there is any difference to women and men preaching. If anyone is led by the Spirit to teach, so be it. The Bible doesn't speak against women preaching, only against women interfering with the service and being a general nuisance. Not to raise up women above men, sometimes women are more in tune with the Spirit in order to give pastoral help to people - it's a natural motherly thing.

However, to state men as dominant in this area I think is detrimental to the cause. May the best man (or woman) do the job.

Too right Zen!!And in this day and age to suggest a woman has no place preaching is frankly ridiculous at least and offensive to boot!

To put it simply, God isn't sexist. How about Esther and Rahab? Why was it that the TWO Marys were only accompanied by John at Jesus' cruxifiction? (Correct me if I'm wrong on that one...) Why did Jesus manifest first to Mary after His resurrection? And who were His most devout followers?? -- Were they not women? What claim do men have to the pulpit?? It is given by God, the gift to preach, and not only to men... examples show for themselves.

I reckon men and women can do the same jobs these days anyhow.

What about the woman at the well? She went and told everyone the news. Didn't have to run it by a man first. (and she was divorced.) Jesus spoke directly to women then and is still doing so today. This does not make me a man hater at all. Just think God can use women too. If I went to a church where woman were not allowed to preach I'd..... well I just wouldn't go LOL
