Yes I've been to Durban and loved it - even swam in the Indian Ocean. That's a very kind offer and don't be surprised if I get back to you on it! ;)

Hey Cameron - when are you next going to visit South Africa? Have you ever been to Durban? You could always go and stay with my folks in Kloof. They live in this huge house with a wonderful garden of over an acre, that has ha-de-da birds, hornbills and troupes of monkeys in it. The house would have been my inheritance if I'd stayed in S.A. but that's a whole other story. Anyway, they love it when people come to visit and lots of my friends have stayed with them. From there it is just a short trip to the nearest game reserves, and of course my beloved Drakensberg mountains where I have spent many a happy day hiking and camping.

Wow...is that anywhere near Underberg??? Was there about this time last year....awww the Drankensberg mountains are just magnificent. Got a picture of them as my screen saver. ()^

They are wonderful - you can die happy now knowing you have truly lived if you have been there. Only ever had one bad experience although we still laugh about it. Went hiking in heavy mist and baboons started throwing small rocks at us. Somehow they knew where we were, but we couldn't see them. Just heard them jibbering and mocking like mad! Good thing I don't believe in evolution or I'd have to start wondering where we are in the whole chain of events!!! ;)

Hahahaha sounds like our trip to East Africa. Down on Mombassa beach one day we were marvelling at the fabulous marmoset monkeys in their full glory and how clever they were to obtain bananas, apples, pineapples, grapefruits. Minutes later, we had to start questioning on which tree did pringles and salted peanuts grow. :-? We then discovered they had gotten into our appartment and stolen ALL of our food for that week.

If animals could talk, they'd have been saying...... :eviltongue: Gotcha'!!

Certainly not......we played dodgems (sp??) with a Hippo one night in Tanzania....and not the Hippo on here. ;) We were a bit in toxicated with Amurilla (sp??) and the guide thought it be funny to shine a torch directly into the eyes of a not so pleased hippo.

When are you back over there? I should pm you some info about why I was asking about it being near Underberg?...if you are interested.

You have been to some gorgeous places! How do they compare with Scotland - I have never been there although my ancestral line is Scottish so I probably should go and discover my roots.

Not sure when I'll be going to SA again - will have to let you know. Love the hippo story - you'll have to enter that into the Way To Die game - Jousting with hippo while intoxicated on Amarula ::lol:: ::lol::
()^ Speaking of which, did you know that the wildlife, including elephants, eat fermenting Amarula fruit after it has dropped off the trees, because it makes them drunk? Maybe we're not so far removed in the evolutionary time-line! There you go - another one for Way To Die - Accidentally crossing paths with a drunk elephant!

Go on then - send the info about why you were asking if the Underberg is near the Drakensberg (it is) - I'm curious now! ;)

Hi again Vilt. I did ask you to point out anything 'relevant' you thought I'd missed, so if you think I've missed anything that's of particular interest to you, can you please put it in a new, clear post? I can handle any question that comes, odd or difficult or otherwise.

Did I miss a BB programme last night? Shucks...

Lisa was the most bizarre character, I thought, who appeared to have done everything that everyone else had done, but four times better! I loved watching the glazed look in Cameron's eyes as she went on and on and on..... :D
