British tourists in Florida could be shot under new laws allowing locals to gun down threatening people, campaigners warn.
A series of advertisements will appear in British newspapers this weekend highlighting the legislation, dubbed "Shoot First" by critics.
Gun control campaigner Sarah Brady said: "Visitors should be very careful about getting into an aggressive argument with anyone during their stay."
The law is supported by the National Rifle Association but opponents fear it could lead to reckless gun use.
An advertisement reads: "Thinking about a Florida vacation? Please ensure your family is safe.
"A new law in the Sunshine State authorises nervous or frightened residents to use deadly force.
"In Florida, avoid disputes. Use special caution in arguing with motorists on Florida roads."
Before the law was passed, Floridians could carry concealed guns in public places but only use them as a last resort.
Around 1.5 million British tourists head to Florida each year.
