French students 'taken hostage'
A former teacher has taken 18 students, a teacher and another man hostage at a school in France, officials said.

The man, who is believed to be armed, is holding the hostages at a school in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, west France.

The 33-year-old man, taught at the school two years ago, but is currently unemployed.

Officers are negotiating with the hostage-taker who has barricaded himself and the hostages in, the head of the local police said. BBC
