Three-day T in the Park is unveiled

T in the Park will run at Balado, near Kinross, in Perthshire from Friday July 6 to Sunday July 8.

For the first time in its history the festival arena will open to around 50,000 campers on Friday night when Brit Award winners Arctic Monkeys will headline the main stage.

The Sheffield band will be joined by singer Lily Allen and bands The Coral and Bloc Party who recently played the Glasgow Barrowlands venue.

On Saturday, American rockers The Killers will take to the main stage, jointly headlining with Razorlight.

Saturday will also see Dundee band The View on the King Tut's stage, an indication of their success as they played the newcomers T-break stage just last year.

Sunday will see Glasgow ensemble The Fratellis entertain the crowd at the main stage along with another Scots favourite, Paulo Nutini.

Eccentric New Yorkers Scissor Sisters will also play to revellers on the main stage before headline act Snow Patrol close the festival.

In total 35,000 tickets for the July event have already been sold, and another 40,000 will go on sale this Saturday.

In a bid to cut down on touting, festival organiser Geoff Ellis said ticket purchases would again be limited to two per person. yahoo
