When a burglar targeted the home of a frail 86-year-old pensioner, he expected to escape with a decent haul.
However, the young man did not expect to be confronted by Gwyneth Davies, who hit him four times with her metal walking stick before making him sit down and wait until police arrived.
After giving the intruder a good hiding for daring to enter her home, Mrs Davies told him to perch on a stool like a naughty boy while she called police.
Mrs Davies, who has recently suffered broken ribs, a fractured hip and double pneumonia, called police and told the 999 operator: 'I've just caught a burglar.'
She said: 'I stood over him wielding my metal crutch and threatening to give him another clout if he tried to escape. When the police arrived they couldn't believe what I'd done.
'They were all asking me if I was alright - I told them: "You're asking the wrong one.'"DailyMail
