Shannon Matthews kidnap accomplice Donovan beaten unconscious in jail

Kidnap accomplice Michael Donovan has been beaten unconscious in jail and warned that inmates are determined to kill him.

Fellow prisoners call him Jason after his Aussie expop star namesake and have vowed to put him "6ft down under". The 40-year-old was terrified after his latest beating on Monday. Warders had to fight off a mob.

Donovan soon regained consciousness and was taken back to his cell. A source at Armley jail, Leeds, said: "He looked like roadkill. He was left in a crumpled heap. His receives threats daily."

In December Donovan had his jaw broken while awaiting trial and was then punched by another convict for keeping Shannon Matthews drugged and tethered in his flat for 24 days.

SHANNON'S MOTHER CRACKS UP IN PRISON

THE mother who faked the kidnap of her daughter Shannon Matthews is in a prison hospital suffering a nervous breakdown.

Karen Matthews, 34, moved jails last month after threats from fellow inmates left her in fear of her life.

But her weight has plummeted since she arrived at Bronzefield, Middlesex.

And now she is being treated in the prison’s segregated care wing.

A source said: “Karen is really finding it hard to deal with everything that has happened.

“She has taken things very badly, especially all the hate that the other prisoners feel against her.

Shannon aunt gets jail for fraud

THE aunt of abducted schoolgirl Shannon Matthews was jailed for a year today after she admitted benefit fraud amounting to more than £35,000.

Scrounging mum-of-two Amanda Hyett admitted claiming a range of benefits while failing to tell the authorities she lived with her husband, bus driver Neil Hyett.

Hyett, 27, of King Edward Street, Thornhill Lees, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was a prominent figure following the disappearance of Shannon Matthews last year.
