Law chief acts on 'lenient' sentencing in Baby P case

The Attorney General has called for the papers from the Baby P case to examine whether the sentences handed down were “unduly lenient.”

Baroness Scotland has stepped into the row over the indeterminate sentences given to the tragic child's mother and stepfather at the Old Bailey last week.

Baby P council still leaving children at risk

The council at the centre of the Baby P scandal still presides over a system that leaves children at serious risk of harm, a report has found.

Six months after the scale of the incompetence that contributed to the 17-month-old’s death came to light, Haringey has made only “limited progress” in tackling areas of serious weakness.

Decision-making and assessments of children at risk were found to still be “poor” in many cases.

THE woman doctor who failed to spot Baby P's back was broken is suing for £100,000 after being sacked.

----------------------- Image

Shameless Dr Sabah Al-Zayyat, 52 - who also missed broken ribs suffered by the horrifically abused toddler two days before he died in agony - claims she was unfairly dismissed.

ALL of the bungling social workers axed over Baby P's death are to fight their sackings

Disgraced Cecilia Hitchen, Maria Ward and Gillie Christou launched appeals in May — but now Clive Preece is appealing too.

That means everyone accused of failing the tot has decided to shamelessly fight their dismissals — and could bid for bumper compensation pay-outs if they win.

Baby P warnings still ignored

At least 30 children have been murdered or died as a result of abuse since the death of Baby P two years ago, according to research carried out by the Observer. The revelation has raised concerns that, despite the 17-month-old's tragic death at the hands of his mother, her boyfriend and their lodger, children are continuing to slip through society's safety nets.

Couple behind Baby P death named

The couple responsible for the death of Baby Peter have been named after a court anonymity order expired.

The child died at the hands of mother Tracey Connelly and boyfriend Steven Barker, of Penshurst Road, Haringey.

The third defendant in the case has also now been named as Jason Owen, 37, Barker's brother. Baby Peter's surname, Connelly, has also been released.
