CAMILLA Parker Bowles yesterday declared: "I don't want to be Queen."

The announcement was made by Prince Charles's office on her behalf after the row over her future title deepened this week.

After talks with Charles, Camilla has ruled out being crowned Queen when he becomes King.

His spokesman Paddy Harverson said: "Mrs Parker Bowles's wishes have been made clear from the start - that she does not wish to take the title of Queen and the prince is in full agreement."

Despite the Government saying she would automatically be Queen, he insisted: "Mrs Parker Bowles can, as she wishes, be referred to as Princess Consort, rather than Queen, without legislation."

Last night the Government said it was not planning to amend the law.

Bookies William Hill yesterday cut the odds of Camilla becoming Queen by January 1, 2010, from 6/1 to 5/1 - and offered 5/1 that Charles will renounce the throne this year.

FFS she will be the new QUEEN unless constitutionally all the common wealth countries pass a law individually, but this would also effect any following females in line to be queen :-?

As it stands when wed ....Charles becomes King she will officialy be QUEEN mrs CAMILLA PARKER BOULES eve if she acknowledges it or not, that will be her title

I say well done Charles. you will be the man who goes down in history for destroying what’s left of the Monarchy .. what a prat.

(guess who couldn't manage to do the quote correctly..)

I think the way Diana was treated was awful, i.e. Charles choosing her because of her 'suitability', but not really loving her - but I can't see what's wrong with Charles marrying Camilla now - they clearly love each other, and she has been supportive of him for practically all her adult life.

In fact, by marrying Camilla, Charles is being honest and true to himself - something that should strengthen people's opinion of the monarchy, rather than destroying it.

Time has passed Monarchy already - everybody knows by the history how double standard of morality grows behind the curtains of the Monarchy and has always grown. But it's so romantic! ;)

If they would do something REAL (real work for example, because they have been educated usually well enough) they might act better than average upstart celebrity.

I can't understand why on Earth Queen Elizabeth didn't want his son, Prince Charles, to be happy with his life in the first place. He should have been allowed to marry Camilla instead of Diana (it wasn't fair marriage to Diana at all - I just wonder how much she must have been suffered through the years). It's ridiculous to see that adults in their 60's are at last so independent that they'll get married - no matter their parents or institute called Monarchy is saying.

PRINCE William and Tom Parker Bowles are to act as witnesses to the marriage of their parents, Clarence House said today.

The pair will take on the vital role for Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles at the 20-minute ceremony on April 8.

It was today revealed that Charles's siblings, the Duke of York, the Princess Royal and the Earl of Wessex would also attend the civil ceremony.

William and Harry and Camilla’s son Tom will also be joined at the wedding by Camilla’s father Major Bruce Shand and her daughter Laura Parker Bowles.

A preliminary meeting will take place - ahead of the ceremony in the Guildhall’s Ascot Room - during which registrar Clair Williams will confirm the bride and groom’s details.

The Prince and Camilla will arrive together and leave the Guildhall in a1962 Rolls Royce Phantom V, previously used by the Queen Mother, from Windsor Castle.

why do you want a monarchy?

Do you not think thats the main reason this country is so class ridden?

I personally couldn't give a **** who is Queen or KIng, I'd just abollish the lot of them and cut thier heads off. It unsettles me to think we live in a democracy where the Queen is LEGALLY above the law, where *in theory* she can override any law our elected politicians vote for. That unsettles me.

The Prince of Wales has invited the owners of a Cumbrian guesthouse to his wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles.
The Prince has stayed at the Yew Tree Farm and Guesthouse in Borrowdale several times, including two nights during his visit to Cumbria this week.

Owners Hazel and Joe Relph said they were stunned to receive the formal invitation through the post.

The Prince left the guesthouse on Thursday heading to Keswick to meet a local carpenter.

He was also due to visit the Lakeland Livestock Centre in Cockermouth to meet farmers and discuss local farming community initiatives.

As he left the B&B, the Prince said it was a "highly recommended establishment".

Hazel Relph, 47, said: "We got the invitation before he arrived and it was wonderful. I had not a clue what the letter was about. It was a complete surprise."

The couple will attend the blessing and the reception at Windsor Castle and said they had already picked out a wedding present - a gift "from the local area".

Mr Relph said of the royal visitor: "He was tremendous. He was very good company."
