NO. The more these barbaric terrorists try to terrorise us, the more we should ENJOY our lives. We should continue our lives as NORMAL as POSSIBLE. No disrespect to the injured and death; but if we let them to FRIGTHEN us; it will motivates them to launch more attacks in the future!

In Northern Ireland, we had no option other than to live our lives as normally as possible, but when I was growing up, the terrorist attacks were frequent and terrifying.

I agree that it's important not to let terrorists win, but I don't think our reaction to the events of today will have much effect on the perpetrators, either way. Unfortunately.

I'm not suggesting that we SHOULDN'T TAKE any percaution at all. NO. Of course we have to. For example, I myself didn't go to London today (although I initially plan to). Why? Because the police department has OFFICIALLY issued a warning to stay at home as far as possible.

But what I mean is: we should continue all activities as usual if there's no overwhelming evidence suggesting that security is a big issue. We can't simply cancell/adjust activities purely on the reason that there's an attack in some part of London city. I think that sort of mentality is a bit sad.

I only hope the ignorant amongst the population don't start taking it out on Muslims. As a nation we should be united, whatever our beliefs, against the evil scum of terrorists that plague our world. I lost a friend in the Bali pub bombing a few years ago. It's such a gut-wrenching feeling when you find out - such a needless waste of life for such a pointless and cowardly act. These people simply don't understand the concept of a free and open, democratic society. Unfortunately it also makes us extremely vulnerable.

Thoughts with victims and their families and friends.

After spending the majority of the day trying to contact my sister, family members and friends that live in London, i am glad to say that luckily all are ok. A friend of my sisters has been injured in one of the explosions and as yet there is no news as to how she is. Although i dont know her friend, my thoughts are with her and all the other people that have been caught up in this horrid situation.

A person on digispy is saying that Victoria Station has just been evacuated - has anyone on here heard of this ???? I have checked Sky News and havent seen anything about it.

Think very few ntelligent people would react like that,T,but there are always those who use things like this as an excuse to fuel racial hatred. My muslim friends have been praying all day for the families of all those involved in the rtagedy and find news like this deeply worrying from their perspective.

I thought it was a very positive thing that the Bishop of Stepney and the local head Muslim Imam (I think that is the right phrase) appeared on the BBC being interviewed together.

I also lost a friend (Paul Wells) in 1995 when he was kidnapped on June 04 in India along with 4 others and subsequently they were all murdered but the b****rds didn't even tell us when he died. They just stopped making demands. He was only in his early 20's and so full of life and fun and we never even got a body to bury. They tortured us by giving dates and times for his 'execution' and then changing their minds and when they finally did kill him we don't know the exact date or how they did it. It was a 'group' called Al Faran. I've never blamed any of my Muslim friends though and my fiance is Indian. I think that most people are intelligent enough not to blame innocent Muslims or people that have nothing to do with this. The only people that I hate are the ones who physically did it, not the ones that share their religion or nationality. I'm sure most of us feel the same way. My thoughts (no doubt like most of the Muslims in this country) are with the innocent victims here and angry with the perpetrators.

Having lived through a time when the IRA had the audacity to think it represented the views of Irish people, all I can say is, my sympathies go out to the Muslim community, who are decent people, and who have suffered so much as a result of the actions of a small minority..

Just what I was going to say Spiky. Hear hear! My dad is an Irishman who did 25 years in the British Army and we were taking the abuse from both sides. The decent people who never gave us abuse for it were equally Irish and British. It taught me a lot about prejudice as I grew up bcz some Irish hated him for being in the British army and some British military hated him (and therefore us) for being Irish.

Sounds spookily similar...but Irishmen were(for what reason) obliged to do their bit for Britain.Shame they repayed them by offering them jobs here but no accomodation :8o: :8o: :8o:

They totally abandoned him when he left the army. No support whatsoever to adjust to the new life (and new country, we went from Germany to England). He had no way of making a living on 'civvie-street' he was trained to do army stuff and none of his training gave him hope of a job on the outside. He went from being a big, important guy to being a nobody bcz he was big in the army then an 'untrained nobody' to the civillian job market. It was awful.
