Quote: Prince Charles is set to marry his long-term partner Camilla Parker Bowles, Clarence House says.
No wedding date has been confirmed at this stage, but reports have suggested 6 April is one possible date. The move will end years of speculation on their relationship which has spanned decades after they first met in 1970. The Prince of Wales, who is the heir to the throne, was previously married to Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997. The princess famously referred to Mrs Parker Bowles as one of the contributing factors to the breakdown of her marriage to Charles. Religious issues The couple, who had two sons - princes William and Harry - were divorced when Diana died. Conservative leader Michael Howard said he was "delighted" at the news, but Downing Street has refused to comment until a full statement from Clarence House. Mrs Parker Bowles' current position has meant that her status was dogged with problems, including her seating at social functions away from her partner. Last June, Mrs Parker Bowles was mentioned in the Prince's accounts, which marked a new realm of acceptance. The marriage is likely to be a sensitive issue because Mrs Parker Bowles is divorced and her former husband is still alive. Public opinion If he became king, Charles would be the supreme governor of the Church of England and some Anglicans remain opposed to the remarriage of divorcees. The church is officially neutral on the issue, but former Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey recently urged the couple to marry. Last year, a poll indicated that more Britons support Prince Charles marrying Camilla Parker Bowles than oppose it. Of those who responded to a Populus poll, 32% said they would support Charles if he remarried, while 29 percent were opposed. However, most people - 38% - said they did not care, while 2% had no opinion BBCi |

Quote: PRINCE Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles may have to marry in Scotland to comply with the law, a former Attorney General revealed yesterday.
Sir Nicholas Lyell said if they insisted on marrying in England legislation might be needed before the April 8 celebration. He said the 1949 Marriage Act, which updated law on civil marriages, does not apply to Royals. It means they can only wed in church, impossible for Charles and divorcee bride Camilla. Yesterday the couple met North Pole trekkers Tom Avery, Andrew Gerber and George Wells. The Sun |

Yes, it is starting to get quite funny - although sad at the same time, but then lets not forget what they did to ms. spencer. I was listening to a report last night, some religious guy is gonna turn up at WHATEVER church/registry office they use, and when it comes to the "anyone object to this union?" question, he is vowing to object. This could make for some VERY funny news stories. 'If' it is blocked - or if new laws need to be rushed through, it is indeed indicative of the lousy advisors are forever surrounded by. People that dictate their lives from their first breath to their last. In a way, i pity Charles et al, but then, he is grown up, he could quite easily tell them all to get lost and make his own decisions. So....we are looking at a possible 'objection', or at least a farcicle situation where the House of commons/lords has to rush through a new law to allow 'royals' to marry in registry office - something which i believe is currently illegal. lol Calrissian: HRH Prince of Realityland |

i thought they said this had all been pre planned, the wedding that is.. seems to me that the queen was as shopcked as any of them and played it down at the time but now is showing her true feelings

Its just getting better and better. Let us not forget that the Queen is a master tactician. She may well have had enough of her Charles - who almost brought the royals into total disrepute with the whole diana fiasco. Indeed, Her Majesty may have just played a carefully conceived tactic to further up the pressure on the 'happy couple' to call the whole thing off. It all makes for a highly entertaining situation Calrissian: Would be open to being Knighted. |

even more uninteresting: I got married next door to him. thank god my bride didn't look like Camilla though Camilla's not horrid looking - it's just that when she's compared to Diana or other beautiful women in the public eye, she looks 'ordinary'. Nothing wrong with ordinary, I say. |

I actually saw a photo of her in the press last weekend, probably taken when she was in her twenties and she looked very pretty I thought - surprisingly *sorry for being nasty* |

Yes, I saw a photo of her before she was married - and she was a 'babe'. I read that she never cared too much about her appearance, and that her parents brought their children up with tons of love and praise, which gave the children an inner confidence - and that there's something about Camilla that people just can't help warming to her. Strange the way during her marriage, it was acceptable for her to be cavorting with Charles amongst their own 'set'. |

I think it is about time that Prince Charles had his 'Advisors' put down ........and replaced with ones with more than a single brain cell between them. Camilla, by the way, was a very 'classy' young woman when she first got married. She has also 'aged' a lot better than some of the 'Ladies' she used to associate with. |

I can see your point of view and yes the press are having a field day for good reason. Did you know that constitutionaly if Cammila marries charles and he becomes King she will be the queen no matter what any of them say unless they change the law`s and that will cost us the tax payer yet more dosh Edit re Jims comment about her being a classy lady, well only if you like habitual adulterers
