Piano Man mystery deepens

The Piano Man mystery has deepened after it emerged he was found with all the labels cut out of his clothes.

The musician was discovered wandering a beach in a soaking wet, black suit and has not said a word since.

But he drew a picture of a piano and when health workers sat him in front of one he displayed virtuoso skills.

The 6ft man, in his 20s or 30s, was picked up near Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, on April 7. His identity remains unknown.

Doctors say the man's amazing piano skills could mean he is autistic.

One expert said: "Removing labels from clothing can be obsessional behaviour and a symptom of autism.

"The fact that this man cannot express himself but displays astonishing musical and artistic talent are other aspects of autism."

Two theories are that he attempted suicide by drowning or fell from a ship.

The National Missing Persons Helpline has been flooded with calls about The Piano Man. Two names have been repeatedly mentioned.

I saw about this guy on the news yesterday. I really hope they can find his identity. Things seem to be looking more hopeful now.

THE “Piano Man” found wandering on a beach in Kent may have been identified last night.
Italian police contacted UK cops yesterday to reveal that the mystery man has been named as French entertainer Steven Villa Masson.

The information came from a 33-year-old Polish illegal immigrant working as a street performer in Rome.

He approached police after seeing a photo of the “Piano Man” in a newspaper. He says he worked with him for two years.

His report is being taken seriously, because he put himself at risk of deportation by coming forward.

Meanwhile, nearly 400 people have contacted a UK helpline set up to identify the “Piano Man”.

The man, in his 20s or 30s, is in a secure mental unit after being found in a soaked dinner suit on Kent’s Isle of Sheppey.

He has not spoken, but stunned carers with a virtuoso piano performance.
