'Witch' child cruelty trio guilty
Sebastian Pinto and Sita Kisanga
Pinto, Kisanga and a third woman were found guilty
Three people have been convicted over the torture of an eight-year-old girl they thought was a witch.

The Old Bailey heard the orphan was beaten, cut and had chilli peppers rubbed in her eyes to "beat the devil out of her", in Hackney, east London.

when I heard about this on the radio today I was so shocked. I can't imagine how much that must have hurt to have chilli peppers rubbed in her eyes. That poor child :( what infuriates me is that if these people go to prison they will no doubt have all sorts of rights and benefits that we the tax payers will foot the bill for. Jahayzus try having chilli peppers rubbed in their eyes and see what it feels like. I was furious. B*stards :8o:

I just felt like screaming obsenities at the tv. Thank God the child is alive but you know how people say 'you can't dwell on these things or you'd go crazy' well how can you not dwell on these things? Sorry to put everyone on a downer but it's hard not to get emotional. I'd always rather 'stick my nose into other peoples business' and risk embarassment rather than not get involved. A couple of weeks ago I saw a neighbour who I didn't know leading a hysterical child across the road + I stopped and said to the child 'who is that?' (the child was black and the man was white and didn't look like he could be the dad). She said 'mummy's boyfriend' and it turned out to be innocent and the guy was cool about it, it was just a tantrum but I'd say to anyone that it'd be better to be called a 'nosy cow' a million times just rather than take that risk. After all, remember how many people saw little Jamie Bulger and didn't get involved and how must they feel now?

I have been on training course linked with child abuse and some of the things I heard we sick. We really don't know the half of what goes on behind closed doors its awful. there are some sick people about :-?

I know what you're saying is right Molly but where do you draw the line? After all, I see screaming children with parents in town all the time. In your example the child was white (assuming not mixed race) and the guy was black so there was some obvious difference, but what if the guy was white - how would you know that he wasn't the dad without going up to him? And would you have done?

Lots of people saw little Jamie Bulger with the two lads but again you see this all the time. If I stopped every little child with slightly older kids (remember the two lads weren't even teenagers), or every parent with screaming children I would be stopping every two minutes. Unfortunately it's a fact of life, but thankfully the really bad cases are extremely unusual and rare and being able to prevent it happening is near enough impossible. All we can do is punish those responsible and then help the child overcome the trauma they encountered, hopefully before it's too late.

Well don't want to be controversial, but I heard about this on the radio but this is the first time I have seen the names of those involved and it has just confirmed my initial thoughts :-?
Some religions/beliefs in some races are just plain crazy. Look at that torso in the Thames business, f***ing crazy. Of course I can't generalise, but like I said it was my initial thought and I wasn't wrong.

It's true TF, the guy was white and the child was dark enough that they didn't seem related.

I think it was a mixture of the fact that the child was screaming at passers-by (not at the man) and that I'd seen her minutes before (seemingly alone) playing outside my window.

I have no idea what I've done if the child was white, (or just looked like she could be related to him) Probably assumed he was her dad and maybe done nothing.

It's a minefield bcz you don't want to take that risk of doing nothing but at the same time like you say, you'd end up getting smacked in the face if you accosted everyone who was leading a hysterical child by the wrist...

I agree with you about Jamie Bulger. Even today I doubt that I'd bat an eyelid at two 10 year olds with a screaming toddler but I just feel such pity for the many people who saw them and then realised too late that they could've saved him if only they'd known. Hindsight is a cruel thing at times.
