Post subject:  About Driving In A Car With Mobile.

Just been on the BBC news website, and seen this. It's about driving whilst talking on your mobile phone. It's illegal to talk to people on your mobile whilst driving, ha blimey, i generally see people doing this where i live. One day there was a fella that even had the cheek to give me an impatient look when he sort of nearly went into to me, i'm like, excuse me, but it was you being on your mobile that caused a near accident. Some of them have got the balls for anything, and the best of it is, if someone had been on a mobile and knocked one of their children over (if they had any), they'd be absolutely furious. There's nothing wrong with having one of these holders for your phones on the dashboard while you drive. Some of them are just too lazy IMO

Erm, this wasn't meant to be a thread asking people what mobile's they had. I was trying to highlight the problem of people talking on their mobile's whilst being in cars.

What's even worse is being behind someone who is driving and texting at the same time...

They brung out this law about people not being able to speak on their mobile's in their hands, whilst driving. But it seems to be a relaxed law to me. Can't remember exactly, but just the other day, i seen someone in their car talking into their mobile while driving. They must think their this big hot shot superstar or something, the way they just sit back talking on the mobile is laughable. I am so use to being on the bike (mountain bike), but even if the thing had four wheels, i still wouldn't feel in total control of it. Some of these drivers think they can do more than they actually can  If i was in a car with a child, and someone started using a mobile at a fair speed, i'd just ask to be let out. Even when i go to scratch my head or whatever, i don't feel in total control of my bike, only when i place both of my hands on the bike do i feel safe.

I do agree that it's not safe...but I guess neither is changing the CD when driving which is how I'm probably most likely to have an accident :-?

Thing is though Felicity, changing a CD might only take seconds. And also, you just press a button, and when you hear the CD come out, you just take out the CD, and then when you stop again, you pop another in. With mobile's, you have this up to your ear for as long as the conversation is going. You could also have an accident looking the wrong way, it's just mobile's affect how quick you can turn the wheel.

Have you seen also people eating, drinking, changing clothes or doing their make-ups at the same time when they are driving their cars? Or not wearing seat-belts? Or smoking inside of their cars? Or changing radio-channel or something as well? Trying to find lost dummy to a baby? Or having dogs or cats without pet-seat-bealts in their cars?

People do terrible things while they are driving! I do prefer using hands-free-systems in a car or then I just don't answer phone when I'm driving.

Your right about that Mari A, i've seen programme's about this on tv, and some of the things they do when driving a car are amazing. Amazing as in stupid more like. I bet they are doing something like 60Mph as well  Of course this will only be in America probably, if it's in the U.K, then i'm stunned.

I must admit that in the car in the morning on my way to work I put my lip gloss on, but only if I am in a traffic jam or queue - never when the car is moving

Ha,ha, it's okay milly. That means the car has stopped :D People can do what they like though, but i just find doing things when your going at speed, a bit stupid. Especially being on the mobile phone.

They should crack down seriously on the idiots! if the car is at traffic lights it's different but drink-drivers or people who text while driving ought to be convicted of assault with a deadly weapon. A car CAN be a deadly weapon and some of the sentences handed out to drink drivers or mobile phone users that cause accidents and deaths are just insane and not nearly long enough!

Ahem... the way you're most likely to have an accident is to be driving TOO CLOSE BEHIND them if they brake to slow down to avoid being camera'd. LOL

Joking aside, we were asked on our BB application forms what law we'd change or enforce more strictly and I mentioned using the mobile phone whilst driving. Not that Earth-shattering, but it would be significant.

its one of those things that we all will mostly agree that it is right to be illegal for safety reasons, but many of us do it anyway. Texting when driving is even worse, but I got to confess to that too
