The average British woman spends more than £31,000 on shoes during her lifetime according to research.

Around 44 per cent of women say shoes are their biggest weakness when they are out shopping, with 86 per cent of people claiming to buy at least one new pair a month.

A third of women say they have 25 pairs of shoes in their wardrobe, and around 1.3 million women claim to have well over 30 pairs.

Churchill Insurance claims the average women starts shopping for her own clothes at the age of 14, and if she spends an average of £40 a month on shoes each month she will have bought £31,680 worth of footwear by the time she is 80.

At the same time it claims women spend around £15,840 on accessories such as handbags and jewellery during their lifetime.

Six out of 10 women say they currently own 10 handbags and 3 per cent have more than 25 different ones, while 80 per cent of women have at least 10 belts.

Overall 42 per cent of women admit they regularly splash out on accessories they don't really need.

Unsurprisingly, one in five women say they hide their purchases from their partner, while 22 per cent lie about how much they have spent.

:eek: That is scary.

I'm too reluctant to spend money and don't really like fancy shoes due to my warped toe so don't have nearly as many pairs of shoes etc as that.

Do have quite a lot of (pink) bags though.

I hate shoe shopping because I need to get them wide for my sticking out toe but then they are too wide for the rest of my feet. It is CRUEL! This is why I love my jazz shoes so much, but you can't really wear them to go out (especially with the weather here...) or they get wrecked.

I loooove shoes. The great thing about them, is that my weight can fluctuate and sometimes some of my clothes don't fit or are too tight but my shoe size never changes and I am happy to buy them even if I don't feel great about my body.

Though I blame pikey for this as she has been out buying them today. :angel:

I don't like very high shoes either because I'm tall anyway and it makes me feel stupid, especially with other girls.

I don't often buy shoes as I have small feet and I have quite broad feet as well which makes it hard when I am looking for shoes.

my feet are long and I hate it, however as I'm tall I suppose it looks in proportion. :roll:

What a waste! ::lol::
But if people are happy with spending their own money and going shopping, it's ok if their families, children and partners doesn't suffer from their drug called "shopping".

I wonder how much does men spend their money to articles that includes newest possible technologue or articles that have something to do with motors, engins, cars, motorcycles, fishing, games, tools etc. ::lol::
