A french court has found a man and woman guilty of being involved in a paedophile ring. Children that were involed, were as young as 6 months  I felt sick as soon as i read that. How on earth can people do this sort of thing.

That should be shock everyone on earth in every country and area!
That kind of people should be locked in for the rest of their lives. :8o:
Where on earth has all the so called normality gone from peoples behaviour at oneanother? :-( Children should be protect in every way we can to bring them up as balanced adults. Those children won't ever be happy adults because people don't ever forget or their bodies won't forget anything that has happened through the years. :puke: Social workers should have a right to visit any time without calling ahead if they suspect that something is wrong.

There are a lot more questions to be asked in this case and still a lot more people to be sentenced.

Facts so far:

Began on 3 March

65 people accused abusing 45 children

25,000 pages of evidence stored on CD-Rom

Prosecution case: 430 pages

More than 150 witnesses

60 lawyers - 51 for the defence, 9 for the prosecution

Trial cost: 1m euros (£700,000)

I pity the Jurors, some of them will be traumatised for the rest of their lives.

Not one to usually just go ahead and string someome up, but these people who run these underage sites, they should be locked up. And why don't the police go surfing the web, trying to find these sites. Surely they must be able to come across some, and then if they do find any, they can get into contact with the person who runs the server, and then get the details of the person who put the site up. Well, i dunno, it seems straight forward to me. Unless they have a strict privacy policy or something, but surely in this case that can be put aside.

 If I would believe in death penalty I would say that we don't need those people alive in this world. Every crime against innocent children is only indefensible there's no way to mitigate the punishment - these people really should get caught much faster and they really should be locked in for the rest of their lifes because there's no scientific proves that they'd ever change their behaviour. :-?

its the most disgusting crime on the planet and one that sickens me to the stomach. When I look at my children I just can't bear the thought that anyone could possibly want to hurt them in a sexually motivated way and rob them of their innocence :( But it happens to children all over the world on a daily basis and its just awful :-?

Apparently the people that commit these sick acts rarely see themselves as having done anything wrong which is why it is so hard to treat them. In prisons apparently they rarely accept any form of therapy etc. (I have just finished reading the book on Sarah Payne and this was mentioned)

I mediate on a site for children.People can only become members if their school pays a subscription ..in other words only school employess can use it(and as a matter of course anyone working in a school is police checked though of course we know as in Soham this isn't even foolproof). The children can only talk to other members and may not give out urls, arrange meetings, give out email addys or any other info.Every PM is checked for content before being passed on.Its a great way for kids to chat to kids in other schools in a safe environment. There are probably other sites that are policed for children but at the end of the day we as parents have to be so careful with our kids on the net.I hate the fact we have to curtail their freedoms so much but there are some lunatics out there :-(
As for this case..myheart goes out to all the victims and their families. What a truly awful thing :-(

I think zx50 was referring to child pornography sites, not chat rooms used by children.

I suspect there are several reasons the police can't surf the web for child porn sites. One being that the web is just of such a phenomenal size they would never have time. Another, I suspect is that these sites hide behind a seemingly legitimate site and access is via a paid up account. You would only know about the site if you were a member of a particular ring. I doubt the site owners would submit their site to search engines either and most of them probably do the hosting.

I'll admit, I've searched for porn (and if you haven't you are just not normal, or are odd, I would say) but I have never seen any child porn on my 'travels' (and there are some really sick sites - where I've ended up by accident of course - or just pure curiosity, ok, I'm digging a hole here! what some people do with chains, leather and a donkey is beyong belief). Regular (legal) porn, please note!

If people never search for porn, doesn't mean to say they are wierd or odd, might just mean they are interested in other things. As for if i have searched for it or not, no, if i come across a site then.......but i don't go searching for it. But i mean, if you come across a site like that, then it is pretty difficult to go somewhere else. I know of someone though who is obsessed with it.

fair point. I do admit to getting slightly orgasmic about non-league footie sites :D . I think what I was trying to say is there is regular porn, and then there's weird porn.

I have come across sites by accident by searching the most innocuous sounding names   I am dubious about a lot of kids sites though. On one hand I wouldnt want to stop them playing on game sites but I do request that they don't talk to strangers or give any personal details out.Luckily they have an arrangement with some of their friends and they arrange to meet for a game on the site and still chat.
