Down here in the south i can remember the gusts over one hundred miles an hour as they shock my house like it was made of cardboard winds over 150 mph would have taken it apart :-?

with the added 20 foot tidal surge we would have drowned .. lets pray for them they are in for a very rough day

Web cast packed up at 5am gmt .. they evacuated the studio and had switched to the other site ...

The storm has weakened...and was falling apart significantly for an hour, but it looks still 150mph....way more than enough to destroy much of the area. New Orleans may get lucky yet if it turns to the east just a little.

Well, I know my way around the net.
When you're a member of over 20 forums, you end up knowing a fair few people, each of whom know thousands of great sites.

WWL TV is proving to be a great source of info. although it just went offline 30mins ago, but should be back on later.

err .. well you did good finding that new link, i hacked all my sources and the only other new one i got kept buffering and was useless..

CNN USA feed is the best coverage at the moment

It's been downgraded to a Cat 3 now but they're still expecting a surge tide which could change the city forever :-?

New Orleans can count itself lucky.
The storm effectively just missed - to the east, of the city centre, and so the 'bowl' never filled up. Sure, a levee broke and various areas are flooded/destroyed, but most of the place is okay.

Even so, areas north of the NO' still have to contend with a Cat'1/2 for the next 5-8hours or so.

i stayed with CNN ..... They had some loonie reporter trying to get himself killed live on air when a massive bit of iron missed him by inches.

I`m hoping that because the eye fell apart early and then it went to a cat 4 then 3 lifes wernt lost, certainly they didnt get the tidal surge they predicted

reporters are hurricanes.
They feel the need to spend 20mins telling us the simplest of things.....'its rainy and windy' whilst standing outside wearing a rather 'loud' waterproof outfit.

Cal no its was CCN on cable .. UK CNN but they aired the US vesion most of the time. It was a shame the main link you gave went of air so soon, its dopler radar was amazing. showing the sheers where tornados where, incredible.
