| Post subject: | Woman, 21, held over baby's murder |
YahooNews Wednesday August 31, 01:15 PM A 21-year-old woman has been arrested following the murder of a baby who died in a house fire. Alexander Gallon, aged four months, was killed in the blaze at the two-bedroom property in Cowgate, Newcastle, on Sunday night. His mother, Danielle Wails, 21, told police two men burst into the house, attacked her and tied her up, then fled after setting fire to the living room where the baby had been asleep. Northumbria Police refused to give any details about the arrested woman but confirmed she was being held on suspicion of murder. Police, who appealed for help in tracing the attackers at a dramatic news conference, said they have found CCTV images of two men in the area shortly before the fire broke out. A force spokeswoman said: "We have CCTV footage that shows two men at the corner of Link Road and Whitehorn Crescent at 10.30pm on Sunday. We would ask for these two men to come forward and contact the incident room." Early indications from a post mortem showed Alexander died as a result of the fire, Northumbria Police said. Further tests will be carried out by Home Office pathologist Dr James Sunter and paediatric pathologist Dr Chris Wright, which may take some time. Police said the arrested 21-year-old, who is from the Newcastle area, was the second person to be held over the murder. Another woman, in her early 20s, has been released on police bail after being questioned as part of the inquiry. |

I think we should point out Jim, the 21 year old that was arrested was NOT the babys mother. The babys mother dialled 999 with her tongue because her hands were tied. It wasn't the mother who is being held, the newsreader specified that on tv earlier today. |

| Post subject: | Killer arsonists knew baby was in house, say police |
Telegraph By Paul Stokes (Filed: 31/08/2005) Two masked killers who beat and bound a young mother before setting her home on fire would have known that her baby son was also inside, police said yesterday. Danielle Wails, 21, passed out on the floor as she was punched and kicked. When she regained consciousness the tiny living room where she had left her four-month-old son, Alexander Gallon, on a settee, was ablaze. Miss Wails, whose wrists had been bound with a telephone cord, was forced back by flames as she tried to reach him and had to use her tongue to dial 999 on the telephone key pad. She managed to get to the front door but found it locked and screamed for help. Neighbours were unable to get inside and firemen had to kick down the door of the house in Cowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne. Alexander was declared dead within half an hour and Miss Wails was treated at hospital for a wound to her head and bruising to her face, hands and wrists. Police said yesterday they believed the raiders would have been aware that Alexander was in the room and may have wanted to murder mother and son. Det Supt Barbara Franklin, of Northumbria Police, said: "I am absolutely sure that they knew there was a baby in the house. It was crying, it was in the same room as its mother. "It would appear their intention was to kill both, if in fact they locked that door." Miss Wails was at home with Alexander on Sunday night with the front door open as normal. At about 10.30pm two men dressed in black attacked her. As she lay unconscious they set fire to one of two settees in the living room before fleeing. Det Supt Franklin said: "These men did not steal anything, they said nothing, they were in and out very quickly." |

No matter what the provocation I don't think I could kill somebody on purpose. Maybe by accident (God fobid) if I was attacked or something, I was attacked a couple of months back (nothing major, face bashed and they never got my bag) and despite my martial arts training (20 years, since I was a kid) I was scared to risk harming them too badly (plus it happened really quick). But I bet you could go up to almost any 'bad guy' or prison inmate and say to them 'will you kill a 4 month old baby' and they'd hit you for even suggesting such a thing. How anyone could kill the baby! NOBODY condones that! not even hardened criminals could kill a baby. I hope to God that the prisoners that woman is housed with know what she did and (shuts eyes, looks away) I would never knowingly cause harm or condone it to a sentient being but for a baby-killer? God forgive me but I'd just avert my eyes and not call for help if one of those were being attacked! Sorry to go on about this but harming a baby is something unthinkable - even I could get violent in opposal of that. |

Forgive me, but it never fails to amaze me how those who try to kill fail. They can't even do that right. Serious question, either they wanted to kill them both, or they didn't. If they did want them dead, then why not do it properly? Bizarre. Ohh, and the irony - which mainstream society endorses at present, even if the pair are found, charged, and found guilty...they'll get 12-15 yrs...out in 7 or 9yrs? Pointless lame justice system. |

Well I assume you have a logical brain and don't take drugs Cal. I've never taken drugs and I think I have a logical brain also but I'm naturally sensitive and overemotional so it balances out I hope. I think the reason is that they got scared at how far they'd gone and just decided to get out and hope the 'job finished itself' (God! that sounds cold and clinical! to say that! ) Plus - drugs... If they're on drugs then their behaviour would be unpredictable and irrational to say the least. I'm trying hard not to think too much about this bcz I can't bear the thought of a 4-month old baby being... well you know ... :-(

I don't understand this at all. Why would she do this and then try to blame others? Some people are sick. |

looks like she did it all herself, then made up 2 men as a story to get her out the picture. on cctv they did see 2 men in the area and asked for them to come forward, but then they suspended the search for them and the next day arrested the mother. |

That is shocking news. It just didn't occur to me that she could have done it. |
