But its still a storm?

What I was wondering...I know hurricanes are fuelled by the sea so why didnt the storm gain strength as it started to cross the ocean?I know the energy disipates when it hits land but 3000 miles of water is a long way.Is it ocean temp?

yes, its ocean temp.
Hurricanes need at LEAST 26c, and temps get lower with sea depth.

Although not a hurricane if it's the Low that currently got serve weather warning for Scotland then there's still some bite left.

I played with the forecast charts from the MET office to show the track of the Low through to Sunday when it disipates.
The Black circles are the centre of the Low with the Last pressure ring figure from the Isobars. Now the position is correct going by the last NOAA tracking chart I saw.
All the tracking sites are now following Tropical Storm Beta.

hehe. All true of course.

Then again, given enough opportunities, through shear statistical probability, you'll get clouds spelling out things like 'bbfans.com'....although it may take a few more million storm systems until we get that spelled out by clouds.
