woo hoo... http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ Here we go again...a real beast of a storm looks likely...TD'24 is now building near Jamaica. One of the main models (GFDL) suggest it'll bomb to 898mb - a cat'5, and whack Florida. Yes, a cat'5 slamming Florida from the south. Its gonna be a very busy week for those along the gulf coast. --- *Wilma - yet to be named, is the last name available this season. If anything else forms, they will use Greek alphabet names - Alpha, Beta, Gamma etc Calrissian: eyes sharp |

Hmm...Wilma be a'spinning up nicely now. Even the official hurricane people are predicting Cat'3. Personally, I - along with a fair few other weather-heads are all touting Cat'5 - at some stage, with a Tampa Bay, Florida landfall. It gonna be one nasty little beast of a storm. T-6 or 7 days until US landfall. Yes, there is a long way to go yet. Calrissian: eyes on Wild Wilma |

4pm UK, Wilma now a cane'. Tampa Bay appears the most likely hit, being a bay..could be a lot of water into the city. *in any case, by this weekend the online TV stations in Florida will be Grade'A must-see viewing. more on that later. Cal: lurking |

Are they any better prepared than they were for New Orleans? Or is it not of the same magnitude? |

ahhh. finally after looking around, found the link which sums up 'worse case'.... http://tbo.com/hurricane2005/worstcase/worstcase.html --- A great link, all 3 parts are worth watching. Tampa Bay is the most important place in West Florida, and is also the most vulnerable. Currently, many of the predicted tracks take the storm at/near Tampa. This gonna be nasty. Calrissian: Cat'6 |

now the strongest Atlantic storm EVER recorded. --- In just 7 hours the Hurricane collapsed/bombed from cat'1 to 5...and now has a lower air pressure than Katrina or Rita ever did. For non weather-heads, maybe it might seem like just another storm. No. Its not just a storm, its off the scale...and is making Katrina look relatively weak (at least in terms of historic record breaking) Its historic, and is looking like the biggest beast of a storm EVER. Floridians should GET OUT NOW ! Cal: cat'6 |

wooooooooooo hooo ! Live hurricane coverage has finally begun* *they sadly don't have live TV stations on all year around, since it cost so much money to stream online. primary link for feeds... http://www.weatherserver.net/hurricanecenter/ http://www.cbs4.com remains the best station. 'Brian Norcross' is a real dude of a forecaster, and this guy you'll see so much of this next 5 days or so. Meanwhile, Wilma is heading for Cancun, and then is forecast to make a hard right and then hit southern Florida sometime on Sunday. Calrissian: live storm streaming...its almost as good as chocolate ** this is working best right now... 200k stream - CBS4 http://dayport.wm.llnwd.net/dayport_0025_live |

Thanks Cal, looks like Wilma may decrease a bit but it will still give the tourists a few memories to bring back |

*please note... http://dayport.wm.llnwd.net/dayport_0025_live is the best feed right now, and looks to be 24/7 too...but... picture goes blank during commercial breaks, and stream may need to be restarted periodically. Its a good channel though. **also, because its a raw feed, sometimes you get to hear weird stuff from the TV crew during the breaks - stuff they'd rather you didn't, although they are usually very polite |

Coverage isn't too bad on Fox News. Regular updates and reports. Will check the CBS NY News feeds on 16E Satellite just in case. |
