Press Association A schoolboy was permanently excluded from school for posting obscene slurs about his teacher on a website, it was confirmed today. The 15-year-old boy was thrown out of Bryn Elian school in Colwyn Bay, north Wales, after he and three friends wrote comments on the Arizona Rangers website. The site is devoted to a cowboy enthusiast group, of which the male teacher is a member, who re-enact famous cowboy shoot-outs for charity. Three of the boys were suspended from school, two for 15 days and one for five days. The fourth boy's comments were deemed to be so offensive and unfair that he was permanently excluded. The decision was upheld by school governors, but is expected to be appealed by the boy. The headteacher of Bryn Elian, Stephen Matthews, said: "As caring employers, we will do everything we can to protect our staff. "I believe that permanent exclusion was the appropriate punishment because of the nature of the comments." The schoolboy's comments were not revealed, but the incident was referred to social services. North Wales police was also called to investigate the incident. The teacher remains at the school and there is no suggestion he has done anything wrong. |
