I am afraid I had no time for George Best after that - I am amazed that when he died she called him 'the love of her life' - short memory.

As I said before, I am appalled by domestic violence of any sort. But I don't think the wife beating was a regular, cynical thing in this case. And Alex used to be very happy looking when interviewed with George - at a time when he clearly adored and relied on her. Things turn sour in many relationships, but if you've ever been besotted by someone, it's not so surprising that you would remember the good times when the person has just died.
