A mother who said she has no time to discipline her daughter - suspended from school 12 times - because she works nights has blamed her teachers.

Over the last 10 months, Samantha Holt, 10, has been suspended from Siskin Junior School in Gosport, Hampshire, for a number of incidents.

She has climbed on the school roof as well as brandished a pair of scissors.

Hampshire County Council said a range of ways of dealing with Samantha's behaviour has been undertaken.

Her single mother Tracy Holt, who works night shifts at a petrol station, said teachers should "control the pupils".

Mrs Holt, 40, of Guildford Court, said suspension was seen by the children more as a "treat" rather than a punishment.

"I am fed up with the number of exclusions, I can send her to school on a Monday and she's sent home for the rest of the week," she added.

"The teachers aren't doing enough, they need to be stricter. I have given them permission to be harder on her but they can't because of the times we live in.

"The children intimidate the teachers, so the teachers should intimidate them back.

She said children behave badly so they will get sent home.

"[But the school] shouldn't exclude them but they should make them stay in the school and do things like picking up litter," she continued.

Teachers' responsibility

"Because I have to go to work I don't have time to be strict."

"Some people say it's the parents' fault but it's not. When your child goes out of your house and into school they are in their teachers' hands - it's their responsibility."

A council spokesman said one-to-one support sessions had been held with Samantha and her mother to try to "address her behaviour".

She added the exclusions were "necessary" when Samantha's behaviour had become "unacceptable and disruptive".

"Sam has been excluded 12 times since February this year," said the spokeswoman.

"Alongside the fixed-term exclusions, she has also received a range of support services to help her with her behaviour.

"Some have been one-on-one and her mum has come in as well to help her with her behaviour but clearly some of her behaviour has been quite extreme and those have led to the exclusions."

oh yeah, I heard this on the radio.

That woman is one of the most common pieces of filth I've heard of ALL year. Hell, she makes the people in my local area look positively respectable.

To expect 'others' to deal with her child, lol. Its just too classic of the utter 21'st century 'I'm not responsible' attitude.

She never deserved a child, and if the child had any sense...it'd pack a suitcase and turn itself into its local branch of social services.

Calrissian: harsh...but always in touch with Quantum theory.

A society that reenforces the message to its young that they can do what they like no one can touch them is going to end up in a mess.

There is always an upside to the next global pandemic. It helps to Sift out the gene pool a bit, since most of those 'idiots' tend to be the least prepared.

Cal: ready for the snow...or maybe rain.

Very true - and, without parental attention or discipline, as these children go on to have children of their own I can see history repeating itself :-?

Although I don’t necessary agree with you, there is a truth in survival of the fittest, where fittest is also equated to intelligence and adaptability.

It was unfortunate. But indeed this was very much a rule proved during the USAs last hurricane season where the weak poor unprepared should perished due to ignorance and a basic lack of fear of danger.

Right now the ignorant in fear are snapping up the flu jag, while the intelligent in fear are re designing their lives to reduce exposure as their is no cure or preventative measure apart from don’t get it. Certainly of those avoiding the danger you will find none on route to holiday in the danger areas like the fools who ended up in Hurricane zones despite the knowledge being available to tell them one was coming before they went.

hmm.
Reminds me of all those dumb fools who are buying up houses on the flood plains in the east London area. So dumb, beyond all realms of sense.

Its like me saying I'll have a picnic on the fast lane of the M25 (well, when its not traffic jam), and expecting not to be hit by a car.

Drifting off into rant land...but still,...yes...the idiots will perish..Muhahahahahahahaha.

Calrissian: an 8ft snow drift would be acceptable, given that he lives on the first floor.
