CHEESE-makers have launched a festive treat for enthusiasts - Stilton ice cream.
The bizarre new desert, made from blue stilton and double cream, is described as the perfect accompaniment to Christmas mince pies.
According to the Stilton Cheese Makers Association, the ice cream "marries perfectly" with mincemeat.
Association secretary Nigel White said: "Stilton ice cream and mince pies is the perfect twist this Christmas, as people are so used to the same old traditional dishes that dinner parties over the season tend to be a little boring."
The ice cream can also be eaten as a starter or enjoyed with biscuits.
