A grandmother was stopped by police and fined £30 after placing characters from The Simpsons on her dashboard, with a blue light shining on them.
Susan Gates, 57, had installed the figures with LCD lighting to amuse her grandson, Owen Flynn.
But, when an officer spotted the offending characters as Mrs Gates drove on the M27 motorway in Southampton, he pulled her over. A spokeswoman said Mrs Gates was issued a fixed penalty notice because the lighting could have been mistaken for a police car's emergency lights.
