More than 40 paedophile suspects have been arrested in what Metropolitan Police are describing as its "biggest ever operation" against abusers. Three hundred officers raided 55 addresses as part of an operation aimed at protecting children from predators. Students, computer programmers, bank workers and estate agents were among those snared by police. Police asked wives and girlfriends to report men they suspected of viewing online child pornography. Detective Chief Superintendent Peter Spindler, head of the Met's Child Abuse Investigation Command (CAIC), said: "Paedophiles have not learnt from Operation Ore. They are still going online to find images of child abuse." Det Supt Spindler said computer equipment in people's homes was often too sophisticated for regular police officers to deal with. A custom-built Met forensics van, decked out with high-tech scanning devices and believed to be the first of its kind in Europe, is now accompanying officers on complex cases. Detective Sergeant Shaun Reardon said even the most advanced online offenders were being caught with this technology. "With the use of this van, a full evidential package against a person suspected of looking at online child abuse can now be prepared within a day if needed." The equipment is also helping to cut the time suspects are on bail from up to 18 months to three months. This reduces bail times for defendants and according to officers it has reduced the number of suspects killing themselves, with no on-bail suicides reported this year among those arrested by the Metropolitan Police. Some years ago two of us were asked to check a hard drive and over 150 zip discs. We both were violently ill. The HR Director refused to look at them and the police took everything away with them. In the meantime the person under investigation had returned to his own country and has never been charged although the 'Authorities' know where he lives etc. It is surprising what can be found on company computers |

I'm currently reading a true story about an elective mute and when she finally talks she eventually tells of how she has been ritually abused as part of a cult. I honestly feel physically sick at reading parts of it. I hadn't quite realised graphic it was going to be but am finishing the book as I want to know how she gets on and what happens to the people who did it. |

There's a lot I could say about what computer companies are asked to do with PC's that come in for repair, but I had to sign the official secrets act so can't say much. Lets just say Gary Glitter is the tip of the iceberg, operation Ore only uncovered people who had paid money to one website, it goes FAR deeper than that and just turns my stomach. This new batch of cases is proof of it unfortunately. |
