...... Congratulations and best wishes to Grainne and Shannon. They were the first people in Britain to 'tie the knot' under the new civil partnership legislation. All the more satisfying that it should happen in Belfast. Would post a link, but can't find one that doesn't concentrate on those who were protesting outside the City Hall |

are the civil partnerships just like a normal marriage then? Assuming that not all of these civil partnerships work out, would they have to go through the divorce procedure or would it be a simpler case of having the partnership dissolved? |

i think the civil partnerships are simply dissolved NM. I'm not sure about the wording of the ceremony, probably a little different to a civil wedding but not much. Also did you know that the words bachelor and spinster aren't going to be used for heterosexual couples getting married any more? they'll just be called 'single' on the marriage cert. |
