The service provider behind the Crazy Frog phone ringtone has been fined £40,000 by premium rate services regulator Icstis.
It follows hundreds of complaints about the service as people ran up huge bills by unwittingly signing up to a subscription service.
The watchdog has found the promotions were not clear enough in explaining the terms of the costs involved.
It has ordered MBlox to refund the 338 people who complained to the regulator.
