A power cut in London's West End has plunged parts of Regent and Oxford Street into darkness.
Last-minute Christmas shoppers were left floundering as the lights went out in the heart of the city's shopping district.
Christmas lights in Oxford Street were largely unaffected.
But Nike Town, the sportswear store at the junction of Oxford Street and Regent Street, was in darkness.
The problem is believed to have been caused by an underground high voltage cable, said a spokesman for the supplier EDF Energy.
He added: "Engineers are now trying to restore power to almost 100 customers off supply in the Regent Street area of London.
"The first customers went off supply at around 5.20pm today. Areas affected are Regent Street, Great Portland Street, Great Castle Street, Newman Street and a small section of Oxford Street."
