AN island distillery is making final preparations to recreate history by producing the world’s most explosive dram.

Tomorrow lunchtime, Bruichladdich distillery on Islay hopes to have produced the first batch of a spirit that is expected to be around an eye-popping 92 per cent alcohol.

The strongest whisky currently available peaks at around 65 per cent — so the new dram will come with a health warning.

It is not illegal, just not advisable as that strength can cause problems. The Lithuanean Club used to dispense 'Double Proof' Vodka and it was lethal. Five glasses and the brain went to sleep.

It was great in the winter, just breathe on the car windscreen and all the ice melted :D
