Last updated at 12:29pm on 24th August 2006 The youngest cricketer - male or female - to play a Test match for England has notched up 10 A*s in her GCSEs and an A at AS-Level. Holly Colvin, 16, takes her place in the England side today knowing she has achieved a clean sweep in her exams. The Brighton College pupil made history as the youngest Test cricketer when she lined up against Australia in Hove last year. Holly and her team-mates are currently midway through the one-day NatWest Women's series against India at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The teenager, who lives in Middleton-on-sea, West Sussex, said: "I only missed one match because I had an exam the next day. But overall, juggling cricket and studies has been fine. I have had a lot of support from my school and the cricket academy." Holly took an AS-Level in maths a year early, scoring an A in all three papers. She will stay on at Brighton to do A-Levels in maths, biology, chemistry and Latin and hopes to go to university. Brighton College headmaster Richard Cairns said: "Holly never took her eye off the ball." DailyMail |
