DailyMail Last updated at 21:44pm on 20th September 2006 Flights into and out of London Luton Airport were suspended tonight after a private plane overshot a runway. Bedfordshire Fire Service confirmed that a light aircraft, a Cessna Citation, overshot the runway after suffering hydraulic problems. The two people on board were uninjured, but the wreckage had to be cleared from the runway. No one from the airport was available for comment. However a statement on its website said: "London Luton Airport is currently dealing with an aircraft incident, all flights arriving at and departing from the airport are currently suspended until further notice. "Further information will be provided when available." A spokesman from Easyjet, which is based at Luton, told the BBC that flights which could be diverted to Stansted airport in Essex, would be. |
