QUEEN IN GIFT TO CAT AGED 100
THE Queen has sent a birthday card to a cat as it reached the feline equivalent of 100.
Flook, a chocolatecoloured Burmese, was given the unique honour after owner Chris Evans informed Buckingham Palace of the milestone.
Normally only human subjects get a royal card when they reach 100.
But, to Mr Evans's astonishment, the Queen sent a reply days later.
Now Flook is the only cat in the UK to have her birthday acknowledged by the monarch.
Mr Evans, 43, said: "I sent a letter about Flook reaching 100 in cat years.
"It was tongue in cheek really, and I never expected to get a reply."
Flook, who is nearing her 16th birthday in human years, apparently has her own regal tendencies.
Mr Evans, of Cumbria, explained: "She is waited on - a bit like the Queen herself really. We called her Flook because my wife Susan is from Flookburgh. Now we're calling her the royal Flookpuss."
